The Friday Fail – The Velshi/Lasker Incident [Video]

You’ve gotta feel bad for CNN. Where Fox News and MSNBC get labeled as the partisan propaganda machines, CNN comes in to the coveted 3^rd spot as the network that can’t quite get it’s silly ass in to gear. They employ the usage of scores of technological wonders – their 3D holograms, their giant iPhone of a touch screen wall – yet they can never quite pull off the whole “News” thing without seeming like every hour of their programming is nothing more than an elaborate and poignant satire on the sorry state of modern television journalism. (With the possible exception of whenever Rick Sanchez is on).

So in lue of real news, CNN delivers us, on a near constant basis, a 4-star level of incompetence. It’s sad, too. You can tell they’re trying to reach for the stars but only end up scrapping the moldy underbelly of a Popeye’s Chicken rain gutter.

All of this creeps its way in to today’s fail, which is a video of CNN’s Ali Velshi trying his hardest to bring some class and insight to a segment by bringing in an “Expert” to help the viewers at home better understand the vicious snow storms in the northeast.

The end result is a prank call from a guy that’s apparently a radio DJ of some sort, Gene Lasker. We have no idea who he is, but after some google searches we found his name tagged along with the name “Bubba the Love Sponge” quite a bit. Bubba is a shitty shock-jock radio DJ from Tampa. So this can only mean that the video above is the only good and funny thing Gene Lasker has ever done.
