The Friday Fail – Pesci
Nov 06, 2009 - By Luis PradaThis video isn’t new, but it’s experiencing a bit of resurgence on the internet for reasons that no one can understand, which is leading many to speculate that the internet is actually controlled by telekinetic gerbils that dictate what the latest internet trends will be. This week, the gerbils have selected actor Joe Pesci’s foray in to the world of…some kind of music.
Is it rap? Is it a shitty lounge act? It’s both really.
Before he was an actor, Joe Pesci was actually a lounge singer. This, apparently, qualifies him to rap about killing people, performing drive bys, and mean-looking eye-ties (see what we did there? It’s almost like it’s a rap, but at the same time, totally racist!).
The album this song was on was titled “Vincent LaGuardia Gambini Sings Just for You.” If you read that title and thought, “The name Vincent ‘LaGuardia Gambini’ means nothing to me,” well guess what? You’re right! It’s shouldn’t because that was the name of the character Pesci played in My Cousin Vinny – a movie you’re only allowed to watch once in your life, and when you watch it you’re only supposed by reap some very mild amusement from the “Youths/Yutes” scene, anything else means you’re a bit “challenged.”
