Horrorcore Exposes Everyone as Stupid
The best arguments are those that no one wins. Not because each side has a valid point but because each side is just so atrociously ridiculous none of the rest of us care to hear what they have to say. Such is the case when out of touch journalists decide to interview Insane Clown Posse fans in a way that isn’t meant to be ironic.
The hard working crew at CBS news stumbled upon this crazy music the kids listen to called Horrorcore and were clearly shocked and amazed. It’s chock full of angry lyrics about violence and holy shit, some people who listen to it have killed people for reals in real life! It’s murder music!
On the other hand, they toss out the statistic that as many as 20 murders have been linked to people who listen to horrorcore music. The US averages around 16,000 murders per year. So let’s say 20 were Insane Clown Posse fans, that means we still have 15,980 musically unsolved crimes out there. Making some generalizations it’s a safe bet that of the 400 or so murders in Tennessee in 2008, probably more than 20 were country music fans. It’s entirely possible that the Dixie Chicks incite violence crime. They had that song about killing Sipowicz, ya know.
On the other side of the coin we have whole crowds of horrorcore fans who we will not be calling “juggalos” because that word is fucking stupid. One lady, with her 10 year old child, assures us that the music isn’t about violence. It’s about love. ICP is about love. Bet you didn’t see that coming,
You may have previously thought ICP was about two idiots who would be roadies for Korn if not for face paint, but you’d be wrong. They’re about love. Or murder. These are the arguments presented in this piece of journalism.
Of course, by the end, we’re given the choice that maybe people who kill other people have some motivations that stray away from their iTunes playlist, though it seems almost sincere when one artists points out how Manson listened to the Beatles and the reporter counters with a smarmy “so parents shouldn’t let their kids listen to the Beatles?” in what is either a deadpan moment of going along with the joke or a complete idiot missing a point.

As a recovering ICP fan (fuck off, I was 15 and high out of my mind) I can say that ICP is pretty damn harmless.
It’s so over the top in all directions it really can’t possibly be taken seriously. One song is about brotherly love while the next is about muderous rampage. I’m pretty sure a few tracks combine the two.
All in all, let’s focus on the real evil in today’s media : Bored, uninformed journalists who think any of this shit matters.
