Get In the Christmas Spirit With The Angry, Innocence Destroying Grandpa
Dec 23, 2009 - By Luis PradaJust about a year ago, Grandpa sat down with his loving family: the wife, the husband, and their two kids. As they sat around the tree, soaking in the Christmas cheer, Grandpa began to tell a tale of the true spirit of Christmas. Of course, his version of the story includes yelling about how poor everyone is due to the state of the economy; how people shouldn’t believe in Obama; and how Santa isn’t real.
The video has to be one of the saddest things ever recorded. On one side of the room you have Grandpa foaming at the mouth, trying to make some strange point about how the family is too poor to buy presents for the children; and on the other side you have the father trying to sing various Christmas tunes so his young and innocent kids don’t get infused with Grandpa’s lunacy, and being exposed to the harsh world they live in.
The ultimate Irony here is two-fold. For one, the snowman shirt. It’s hard to pull off being a Christmas curmudgeon while wearing a T-shirt that has a happy snowman on it. Yet, Grandpa does it in a way that makes you think that he’s wearing it to be ironic. Secondly, Grandpa kind of looks like Santa, albeit one that probably abuses Mrs. Claus and watches a lot of Glenn Beck.
