I'm not in the least a Jimmy Buffet fan (music blows; my mom used to like Margaritaville, and she's 74 now), but I haven't the faintest idea why I should hold his savvy marketing and financial success against him; you can have a very nice "simple life" with a few stacks of millions in the bank.
